Airtel Backs Joint Commitment to enhance European ATM

AIRTEL ATN, a global leader in aviation communication solutions, has joined a growing coalition of key Air Navigation Service Providers (ANSPs), industry partners, and stakeholders reinforcing its commitment to the transformation of Air Traffic Management (ATM) in Europe. This underscores a growing industry pledge to deliver a Digital European Sky.

The Joint Statement highlights Airtel’s commitment to the shared vision among leading ANSPs and manufacturers — including DSNA, DFS, ENAV, ENAIRE, NATS, PANSA, Skyguide, Thales, Indra, and Leonardo — to accelerate the implementation of a modernised, open, and cloud-based, service-oriented architecture (SOA). This is in keeping with the European ATM Master plan. It promises to unlock greater flexibility, resilience and scalability, making the aviation system more adaptable to change and able to integrate new services rapidly. Crucially, it will enable the decoupling of infrastructure from services, fostering openness, interoperability and greater innovation through the adoption of modular, multi-vendor solutions.

We are delighted to announce our commitment to the transition toward a new service delivery model for ATM in Europe, said Santi Ibarz, CEO of Airtel ATN. “This initiative aligns perfectly with our mission to drive innovation in aviation communications and to support a more integrated and evolving ATM ecosystem.”

The agreement will lay the framework for future regulation and innovation by aligning ATM service delivery with practices from other safety-critical sectors. Stakeholders are committed to working together under the SESAR umbrella to make this transition a reality, while calling for the legal, regulatory, financial and standardisation frameworks needed to support the move.

For Airtel it highlights our foothold in industry and our commitment to a unified Digital European Sky.
