BHANSA, UNIBOX and Airtel Launch Datalink Infrastructure Project for Bosnia and Herzegovina Airspace

Airtel this week welcomed the Bosnia and Herzegovina Air Navigation Services Agency (BHANSA) and partner UNIBOX to its Dublin headquarters for the official kick-off of this major airspace modernization project. The collaboration marks the start of a comprehensive initiative to deploy advanced datalink infrastructure across Bosnia and Herzegovina’s airspace.

The project will enable BHANSA to implement Aeronautical Telecommunication Network / Controller-Pilot Data Link Communications (ATN/CPDLC) services. Once deployed, the network will support both the Banja Luka and Sarajevo Air Traffic Control Centres. The modernization is expected to enhance communication efficiency, safety, and airspace capacity across the region, supporting alignment with European aviation standards and regulatory requirements.

“This project represents an important step in bringing next-generation datalink communication to Bosnia and Herzegovina’s airspace. We’re proud to support BHANSA as they modernize their air traffic control infrastructure, and this collaboration reflects the broader momentum we’re seeing across Europe toward ATN/CPDLC adoption,” said Santi Ibarz, CEO, Airtel.
